X Games
The Olympics of Action Sports
In the late 80s and early 90s, America witnessed a surge in grassroots action

in 1994, sports television giant ESPN announced it's plans for the first Extreme
Games, a multi-category event similar to the Olympics encompassing all action
sports. After two successful years, the Extreme Games were officially dubbed
the X Games, then split to also include the Winter X Games. Today, X Games'
reach through television, the internet, and print media is at an all-time high.
